Sad Story....

Last few days, I was travel to Tasik Banding to meet my friends. We arrive Jeli (night @ 11pm) on 26th June and put up at budget accomodation due to heavy rain. On the next day, 27th June, we continue travel after breakfast at one of the simple 'kampung style' restaurant in Jeli, nearby the mainroad. The restaurant is clean, nice food (nasi kerabu ayam panggang, daging bakar), nasi berlauk, nasi lemak, mi and mihun goreng, gulai itik, gulai ayam kampong , laksam and many more.... hmm delicious and the price are reasonable. This restaurant can accomodate up to 150 person at one time! Nasi Kerabu Special (Kak Pah), Kg. Kulim, 17600 Jeli, Kelantan. HP: 013-9435667 - you should try!

After a few minutes depart, we saw an object on the left road - huge! As we go nearer, oh dear! what a sad day for us.... we saw a DEAD TAPIR and very pity because it just met an accident with a truck (according to the villagers). By looking at this animal, we feel more sad becuase his ears was cut-off by people (some say they can be a medicine!.... what a pity!!!) After a few minutes we continue journey but I was thinking along the way.... how to protect this kind of animal because we know that Tapir is endangered spesis.

They are so adorable and tame! We are not blaming who and who, but I wish if Jabatan Perhilitan patrol all over highway especially East West Highway, Felda Aring to Tasik Kenyir Road (eventhough yet to oficially use - but so many times happen animal dead hit by cars/motors/lorries). I know that we couldnt know when they (animal) will cross the road or when will the vehicle passing by the road, but at least we can stanby and alert them (vehicle) to slow down to some area, some particular road which naturally the path of animal crossing!
